Mon Repos Community After School Programme

Seva (Selfless Service) is an important part of a yoga practice.  It is important to give back to the others and support the local community.  This trip takes you to the the east coast of St Lucia and the community of Mon Repos; Mo’s home town.  We will depart the resort at 10:30 am and make our way to Latille waterfalls for a short hike through the Mahaut rainforest.  You will get to meet the owner of the nature park who has lived on the property for over 30 years.  Selai has a calming presence and a vast knowledge of local healing herbs and traditions.  Lunch will be prepared by Wilbertha Wilson, a local entrepreneur.  Lunch will be a choice of crab calaloo, a local crab stew filled with greens and vegetables; chickpea roti, a spicy vegetarian stew wrapped in a thin flour shell; or a packed lunch from the resort.  After lunch you will be able to enjoy time at the waterfall and let the healing waters wash over you.  Then we will visit the Patience Combined School to meet the children of the Mon Repos Aftershool Program.  You will be able to volunteer preparing snacks, working in the garden, playing sports or any other skill you may like to share.  You are encouraged to bring books or sports equipment to donate.  You can also make a cash donation to the program.  We will depart the School at 4:30 pm to return to the resort at 5 pm in time for dinner and evening meditation.
